She is currently the co-owner of Seaside Wellness in Shallotte NC. Her team provides healthcare to well over 2000 patients of all ages. Prior to her newest venture as co-owner of Seaside Wellness, Ms. Varnam was the owner of Varnam Family Wellness Center, PLLC, a private family practice which was in operation for 9 years.
Ms. Varnam has held numerous leadership roles including: AANP Region 4 Director from 2012-2016; NC State Representative from 2008-2012; and served as Secretary for the North Carolina Nurses Association Council of NPs from 2004-2008. Ms. Varnam has lectured extensively nationwide regarding entrepreneurship, healthcare practice management, health policy and advanced practice nursing related topics. She has been extensively published. She was the 1992 College of Nursing Senior Class President and is the recipient of the 1992 Outstanding Senior Award for the College of Nursing and the 2008 North Carolina Nurses Association Practice Nurse of the Year Award. She was inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2010, an honor bestowed to less than one percent of nurse practitioners worldwide.
