Theodore DeReese Pendergrass born March 26, 1950, was a soul and R&B singer-songwriter from the United States. He was born in the South Carolina town of Kingstree. Pendergrass grew up in the Philadelphia region and rose to prominence as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.
Pendergrass left the group in 1976 and went on to have a successful solo career on the Philadelphia International label, releasing five consecutive platinum albums (a record at the time for an African-American R&B artist).
Pendergrass’ career was put on hold after a vehicle accident in March 1982 left him paraplegic from the waist down. Pendergrass continued his successful solo career until 2007 when he announced his retirement. In January 2010, he died of respiratory failure.

Teddy Pendergrass children: Meet Teddy Pendergrass II
Teddy Pendergrass II is the sibling born the same year as his sister, Tishia, and just months after his big sister, LaDonna.
Teddy Pendergrass Investment Group, LLC, which he co-owns and runs, is a successful real estate investment firm that focuses on multi-family complexes.
Another interesting aspect about Teddy II is that he was the main factor behind the court battle he and his siblings had with Teddy’s widow.
LaDonna Pendergrass
LaDonna Pendergrass Hollerway is an American nurse and one of the children of Theodore DeReese Pendergrass, better known as Teddy Pendergrass.
LaDonna is also well-known for her roles in the TV shows Teddy Pendergrass: If You Don’t Know Me, and Unsung.
LaDonna is employed as a hospital technician. Although she supposedly worked in Plano, Texas, it is unknown where she currently resides and works.
